home canning question

Asked September 5, 2016, 10:20 AM EDT

Hello...I used your canning website to process tomatoes (water bath) 60 minutes for quarts at my altitude here in Monument (i used 7000 ft ) In looking at a Ball canning book a week later I see they recommend 1hr 25 min for water bath at sea level....I am now confused and worried that my product may not have been safely canned. Please explain the wide differences in processing times. I am concerned!!!

We recommend the USDA standards that have been tested and that time is 60 minutes. If you have any other questions please call the local extendion office in your state and county.
