Look at our publication below - Getting Started withTree Fruits. There you will find recommended varieties and sources. In general, It is difficult to grow fruit trees in MD because they are so susceptible to insect and disease problems. They usually require a spray program for control. You will have to familiarize yourself with and manage or prevent problems. Peaches are susceptible to brown rot, a fungal disease. Many cycles of infection can occur in one growing season and ripening fruits are most vulnerable to infection. A protective fungicide barrier is critical from prebloom through preharvest.

Here are our publications, fruit profile, and spray schedule from VA Tech.
