Mushroom

I am not sure which mushroom this is. Was it coming out of the ground or was it coming off a tree or root? If off a tree or root, then it is probably one of the wood rotting fungi.

It was on the ground. It looks like it might be an oyster mushroom or a mistake, but I'm just not sure

It may be, but I would not want to take a chance on that.
