Divide sedum?

Asked August 30, 2016, 3:48 PM EDT

I have a sedum plant (I think it's Autumn Joy) that has grown very tall over the summer and is now starting to flop over. I know that it can be divided, but is it ok to do so in the fall? Is spring a better time to do it? Also, I'm wondering if I should cut it back this fall so that it doesn't keep growing so large. Thanks!

Fall is as good a time as the spring to divide and transplant sedum. Cutting sedum back in is a good way to control there height. They should be cut back early in the year. The stems you are seeing now will die off.
