We discovered today several flying insects going in under our house siding. I don't think they are bees, but I am not sure what they are. Can you tell from the picture, and also what should we do about them?
Thank you!

That is the western yellowjacket. Some information on yellowjackets is at: http://bspm.agsci.colostate.edu/files/2013/03/Yellowjackets.pdf

This insect makes brand new colonies each spring, starting with a single queen that is the only surviving stage. At this time of year the colonies start to break up and are usually dead by early to midOctober.
