What is this weed?

Asked August 22, 2016, 4:24 PM EDT

This particular weed is one I have not been able to identify. It pulls up fairly easily when I'm out weeding (long sleeves and gloves). I've been able to pull these plants before they reach 8 inches or so, and am reluctant to let it get larger to "see what it will do." Dad called it an itch plant, but the leaves do not look like the leaves of the stinging nettle.

So, can you help me identify this plant?

Thank so much.

You have what is commonly called Virginia Copperleaf. It does self-seed profusely. Acalypha rhomboideaf http://www.illinoiswildflowers.info/weeds/plants/rhomb_mercury.htm
