Morning Glorys Not Blooming.

Asked August 21, 2016, 9:34 PM EDT

I have been growing Morning Glory Heavenly Blue in the same spot, on the same trellis for over ten years. The vines look as green and healthy as always, but they are not blooming at all this year. What could be wrong?

Most morning glories are late summer bloomers at best, but we don't know why this year's bloom is later than usual in your case.

Sometimes shade increases when the surroundings change due to growing trees and shrubs, nearby construction, etc. When that happens affected sun loving plants usually produce fewer or later blooms.

Over abundant nitrogen may also cause plants to grow a lot of leaves and few or no flowers.

We can't think of any other/better explanations.
