Not really a gardening question, but a question regarding bats. We have a heavily wooded yard with many mature trees. I see tons of small dark brown piles all over under the trees that I am guessing are bat droppings. Are these harmful to our dog if he eats them?

Unfortunately bat droppings are not good for dogs, Bat droppings carry several diseases. They can be a problem if they are ingested or inhaled.

Bats are valuable but bat droppings and dogs should be kept apart. Bat droppings are high in nitrogen and if dogs eat a lot of it is toxic.
