Prairie Magic apples

Asked August 17, 2016, 10:05 PM EDT

My sister and brother-in-law have offered me their crop of Prairie Magic apples for making pies. Are Prairie Magic apples good for making pies? Thank you.

Yes, Prairie Magic is rated good for cooking or fresh eating.

Thank you, Bob. But to me, cooking means they dissolve into applesauce. Baking means they hold their shape in a pie or crisp. Is that true for Prairie Magic? Thanks again! I appreciate your early morning response!

Thanks so much, Bob. I talked to someone at Jeffries, and was told that Prairie Magic apples do hold their shape when baked in pies.
