butternut squash & pumpkins not setting fruit

Asked August 15, 2016, 10:33 PM EDT

I have successfully grown squash for many years but this season my butternut squash are not setting fruit yet. They were planted about the first week in June so should be showing signs of setting some fruit by now it seems. It is almost as though the blossoms are not getting pollinated. Any ideas what is going on?

I also am growing squash and so far have only seen one forming. I think the extreme heat we had may have affected the plants. Give them a chance and you should be seeing small squash fairly soon. Remember that the first blossoms are male and the female blossoms come later.
