Neo-nicitanoid laced plants
Asked August 13, 2016, 9:10 AM EDT
Can I get my plants tested to see if they contain the toxic poison neo-nicatanoid? If so, where? Thank you,
Anoka County Minnesota
Thank you for the question. We believe that you need to contact a private testing lab in order to get your plants tested. The cost will be high and we can't recommend a specific laboratory. Here is an article that describes the problem with neonicotinoids and pollinators and how you can help limit insect exposure to this chemical in your own yard: http://www.mnn.com/your-home/organic-farming-gardening/stories/neonicotinoids-what-home-gardeners-need-to-know
You could try contacting the Xerces Society about testing options. They may know more than we can provide. Here is a link: http://www.xerces.org/pollinator-conservation/
Thank you for contacting Extension.
