Montgomery County Maryland vegetables pole beans pods mishapen

After reviewing the literature, the best answer that makes sense is environmental stress. Excessive heat and lack of moisture can cause the bean pod to become misshapen into a "C" form. Another cause for misshapen pods can be the results of thrips damage, their rasping action on the pod will cause a deformity of the pod.
