Gladiolus. The genus of a perennial flowering plant in the iris family. It grows from corms. Once a frost has killed the foliage, literature recommends digging the corms for plant hardiness zones north of zone 7. However, if it has been planted deeper and mulched for winter protection this step may not be necessary.
