Maple tree disease

There is a very large maple tree in the yard of the home i am renting in rockville. It is losing leaves on several large limbs. Several large limbs are dead and have fallen off. Has been getting worse over 2 year period I have been here. Any ideas?

The maple tree may have declined for many reasons such as a girdling root, drought, poor drainage, poor soil conditions, etc. See our publication
When subject to these problems the tree can be susceptible to insects and diseases but these issues are secondary.
We recommend that you contact the owner. It is a good idea to contact several certified arborists for a site visit regarding the health of the tree to make sure it is not a hazard and the best way to proceed.
