My Muscadines are Dropping Off Vine Too Early

Asked August 7, 2016, 10:23 AM EDT

What would be the reason for Muscadines falling on ground before they are ripe? This has never happened before and I always have lots of fruit on them.

One cause could be a deficiency of magnesium, so I would recommend taking a soil sample to confirm this and utilize a recommended fertilizer. You can pick up with sample kits at the Extension Office here in Lexington (301 East Center Street). Another possibility is due to black rot, which is a fungal disease that can develop with spring rains.

Thank you!
