Boxwood shrub pruning

Asked August 1, 2016, 8:30 PM EDT

We have four boxwood shrubs that are in need of pruning. They are facing south and usually get a little winter burn. However, the green (new growth) leaves usually fill this area in as the shrub continues to grow over the summer months. They are getting a little bigger now and I want them to maintain a smaller size. When and how could I prune them?

Boxwood can be pruned anytime but late summer, early fall may cause the new growth to be damaged by winter. Here is a link that might help you. http://www.landscapeadvisor.com/how-to-prune-boxwood/
