Deer and hosta

Asked July 30, 2016, 10:19 AM EDT

The deer have chewed off most of the leaves of a few hosta plants, leaving the stems. It is ok to trim those stems to the ground (not so attractive). The plants each have at least 2-3 leaves left. Thank you!

Sorry to hear about your hostas...very frustrating!

It will be OK to remove those stems since the plants still have some foliage left, which will be carrying out photosynthesis and producing energy for the plant.

Hope this helps.
