Weed or Flower?

Asked July 28, 2016, 4:30 PM EDT

This is a plant growing withing my wave petunia. I was told that it is a type of morning glory. I do not want it to strangle my wave petunia. Is a weed or is it really a type of morning glory.

It is a morning glory (Ipomoea or Convolvulus) it will have small white, pink or purple flowers about 1" across but is considered a weed and can strangle/cover over more desirable plants. The Morning Glories people like to plant have much larger flowers, ususally 3-4" across.
