Drosophilia extermination

Asked July 28, 2016, 11:44 AM EDT

I have a raspberry patch, and of course some of the berries are infected by drosophilia. I understand those berries should NOT be composted, but instead, wrapped in plastic and thrown in the garbage. I was wondering if dropping the berries in a bucket of water would kill that stage of the drosophila?
