watering a large container on a trex boardwalk

at our condominium, we have a trex boardwalk connecting the condo units. on the boardwalk, we have a container with a dwarf weeping cherry tree. the resident who was supposed to water went on vacation and didn't arrange for watering. the tree lost all its leaves. i placed a tree bag around the trunk to insure the tree was getting water and the tree recovered. the resident claims the water bag moisture will ruin the trex boardwalk beneath the container. i don't agree, and think any strong rainstorm would pour gallons of water through the container onto the boardwalk anyway, as does regular watering with a hose. do you think the tree bag with water will cause more damage to the boardwalk.

Since it is important that the container is able to drain well for the health of the tree, there will always be water under the container. The use of a tree bag as a temporary irrigation method should have no additional impact of the deck material.
For further clarification, however, you should contact the manufacturer.
