chipmunk species
I have a very friendly chipmunk in my yard. It looks like an Eastern chipmunk but the last 1/2 inch of its tail is white. Cannot find it online.

Hello there. I have also done a great deal of digging on this question and consulted some specialists. If you are positive that what you have is a chipmunk, I believe you have one that has an unusual color variation. While I could not find anything about chipmunks with this type of variation, it is certainly possible. You might try to snap a photo, as that could help with further identification, and also capture something that is quite unusual.
