Pine tree help

Asked July 19, 2016, 4:49 PM EDT

This is a pretty big pine tree (about 10 years old) in the back of our yard. The branch literally fell out of the trunk and there is all this white sap. We lost another small pine to this earlier this spring. This is the last tree in a line of 5 and we don't want to lose the whole line! The first 2 pictures are the tree I am asking about. It is in very close proximity to another large pine. The third picture is of the trunk of the tree we already lost. This tree was only about 4 years old.

Your tree looks like it has some major problems. The one branch in photo one is ready to fall off. It could be one or more things happening. The dead tree trunk has pine bark beetle holes. Go to this site and try matching up the symptoms; http://www.extension.umn.edu/garden/diagnose/plant/evergreen/pine/ I think it would be worth your while to have a certified arborist diagnose your trees. You can find one by visiting: http://treesaregood.com/home.aspx and clicking on Find an Arborist. You can put in your zip code to find arborists in your area.
