Chinese Evergreen Dogwood

Asked July 19, 2016, 12:10 PM EDT

I have a one year old chinese evergreen dogwood planted. it has three main stalks (trunks). This tree is healthy but growing "forward" and sort of leaning forward. It seems top heavy. I am afraid to stake the tree to straighten it up for fear it will break in a strong breeze. Should I just leave it alone or stake it?

Stake it but do not try to force it upright. Just stake it to keep it from leaning farther. If the sunlight is right it should straighten up by the end of next year. If it is only getting light on one side it may be growing toward the sun.
