Planting 2yr old Asparagus Jersey Knight roots purchased from a reputable nursery.

Asked July 17, 2016, 2:06 PM EDT

I purchased 2 bags of asparagus crowns from our local nursery in late May. They have been in my refrigerator until today, July 17th. After taking them out of their plastic bags, I noticed they were all covered in dusty mold. We have rinsed them with a strong stream of water, and we want to plant them today, in a plant prepared bed. Will they survive, or has the mold affected the life of these plants? They otherwise looked healthy.

The mold is likely a superficial penecillium type, and if the roots otherwise look healthy they should be ok.
