Magnolia tree blight

My Magnolia tree appears to have been stricken with blight - I am alarmed because it is taking a toll on the lower branches and is spreading higher up. We love this tree. Please advise.

I really can't say what might be wrong without a photo or description of what it looks like and a little more info about what has happened and for how long. Here is a link to look at and compare your problem to. http://www.extension.umn.edu/garden/diagnose/plant/deciduous/magnolia/spotsonleaves.html
