Hole in tree

I have a maple tree that had a large limb removed and left a large hole that has turned brown and is very soft inside. You can scoop some of it out. Is this tree going to die or fall down. Joan

Removing large limbs from trees is not something for amateurs. When hiring a tree company, one should ask about experience and references. I do not know if your tree is going to die. Soft rot inside a pruning cut is not a good sign. You might want to contact a certified arborist for a consultation:
