Rose Rosette Disease?

Asked July 9, 2016, 5:03 PM EDT

My rose bushes are showing red/purplish new growth and I'm concerned it could be rose rosette. Has it been detected in the area?

Thank you for attaching images, and thank you too for taking time to ask if a new, unwanted disease has arrived in Oregon.

You can relax; all the roses appear to be very healthy. They are not affected by rose rosette.

New growth on roses often has red tones. The leaves will gradually change to their normal mature color according to their own time schedule.

If this were rose rosette, the new growth would also be greatly elongated and would have numerous soft thorns on the stem.
