Pine Needle waste
What type compost worms to be used for compost making, if possible that is
Middlesex County Massachusetts
Hello! Thanks for your question.
If you have lots of pine needs you can use them as mulch in your garden; they provide a great weed barrier. You can also compost them in as part of a vermicompost system. The most common worms used in vermicomposting are red wiggler worms (Eisenia fetida) and can be ordered online. Here's a link to a fact sheet about vermicomposting that you might find helpful. Good luck!
