If you have lots of pine needs you can use them as mulch in your garden; they provide a great weed barrier. You can also compost them in as part of a vermicompost system. The most common worms used in vermicomposting are red wiggler worms (Eisenia fetida) and can be ordered online. Here's a link to a fact sheet about vermicomposting that you might find helpful.
