Dying Mature field grown Zinnias

Asked July 3, 2016, 4:06 PM EDT

What is the cause of mature Zinnias (field grown) dying - looking like water stressed , leaves become yellowish, almost burned looking - they shrivel and die and so do the buds and flowers on them. The entire plant dies within 24 to 48 hrs.
