Sexing duck eggs to ensure hatching females

Asked July 1, 2016, 4:17 PM EDT

Can the shape of a duck egg, rounded or pointy on one end, work to make sure that you can have more females hatch? I read that this works with chicken eggs. Is there anyway I can make sure I get more females than males? I don't need any more drakes and I wouldn't be able to eat them. (Unless there was a huge disaster and I was really starving.) Too soft hearted to be a real farmer!

Alas, that is a false folks tale for both the chickens and the ducks. If it worked the professional sexers would be out of business. You can always find homes for excess drakes if you do not specify they cannot be eaten.
