I have these bugs on my apple and pear trees. I am not sure what they are and how to get rid of them.

Those flies are not pests of fruit.
They look like syrphid flies or hover flies.
Their larvae are predators of aphids.
Do you have any aphids or other small insects in the trees to attract them.
They do not pose a risk to you or the fruit trees and help keep pests down naturally.

Thank you. I was hoping they were not pests. We planted the trees this year. We did notice that some of our leaves were eaten by something. But there were no visible bugs.
