Leafgro or something else for organic veg garden?

Asked June 27, 2016, 5:10 PM EDT

I do not produce enough home compost material to feed my summer organic vegetable garden. Is Leafgro considered safe for edibles? Is it still considered free of herbicides? What else can I use to boost the sandy soil under my veggies? I use kitchen compost, ground leaves, and winter crop of green manure. Thanks.

Leafgro is safe. Sounds like you are doing a great job of enriching your soil. Remember a 5% organic soil is considered good! Worms and other soil organisms (including ants) will do some soil mixing for you and carry nutrients deeper into the soil. Also, the cut off deep roots from the cover crop gets nutrients way down in the soil.
