Mustard garlic??

Asked June 24, 2016, 4:34 PM EDT

I have been fighting mustard garlic (and buckthorn, but that is another story) at our new home. Is this first year mustard garlic? If so what is the best way to eliminate a large area filled with it? If not what is it and do I need to eliminate it. Thank you.

Although we've not got a certain identification of this, we are fairly sure it is not garlic mustard. But you can easily test yourself: crush a leaf and smell it. Garlic mustard smells like onion/garlic.

So far our best guess is some kind of clearweed:

Clearweed is a native, but if you want to get rid of it, pull it out or use glyphosate (Roundup). Remember that glyphosate is non-selective, so it will kill anything green and growing that it touches.
