Pruning of Italian Red Maple Tree
I have an Italian Red Maple Tree in my front yard which gets morning sun and is at least 20 years old. It has quite a few dead branches. Can I cut these dead branches now? The trunk is kind of spotted with pebble-sized light spots and I don't know if the tree is dying or not. Except for these dead limbs, the tree is blooming nicely although it appears to have more dead branches each year. If there's a better time to prune, please let me know. Thank you.

You can prune out dead wood at any time of the year.
