What is this beauty, Please?

Asked June 16, 2016, 2:15 PM EDT

I came across this small plant (about 10" tall) while walking in the Walker Preserve, in San Diego's east county (elevation less than 500'). It's the only specimen I've ever seen. Please help identify it.
Thank you,

This is the tropical milkweed, Asclepias curassavica. It is the food source for the monarch butterfly caterpillar. I am surprised it doesn't have any caterpillars on it.
