What is this long leafless plant?

Asked June 14, 2016, 8:18 PM EDT

Hello! I was given this plant as a gift for my office and no one can tell me what it is. It is long and curved, with spines/protrusions that are no sharp. They are somewhat segmented like a pineapple.

This looks like a plant in the genus Stapelia. (We need the photo to be closer for a better id.) There are several species. It is a succulent and most have nice flowers eventually. After it flowers, you may be able to identify the species.
