I have several oak leaf hydrangeas and I think I might have trimmed them back too far or too late. This spring there are hardly any blooms. When is the best time to trim them back and how far can I go?

Oak leaf hydrangeas should not be pruned heavily. Minimal pruning is advisable. Prune in spring only if necessary.

Heavy pruning will result in fewer, though larger, blooms.
