Using chipped blue spruce remains as mulch

Asked June 13, 2016, 8:46 PM EDT

If an infected (needle drop in inner branches) blue spruce is chipped up, can the chips be used elsewhere in the garden (no other blue spruce or any other kind of spruce present in the yard) be used as mulch ? Does it depend on the cause of the needle drop ? Thanks !

I think in general you are ok using the chips as a mulch. Inner needle drop can be a normal thing for most all evergreens. They will loose needles that are 3 or more years old. Depend on the species but based on your write up I think you will be fine.
