Scrub Oak

Asked June 13, 2016, 1:49 PM EDT

Hello, I have just bought a healthy looking scrub oak plant, about 3 feet high, from a garden center. I am worried about when to put it in the ground. It is now the second week in June. Is this a good time? And how do I protect it from the deer? Thanks.

Thank you for your question. Now is the time to plant your new shrub. Below you will find links to information on how to plant the scrub oak and also how to discourage deer from browsing the plant. I have lots of scrub oak that grows naturally in my yard. It is a lovely shrub. I hope you will enjoy it for many years.
