Maple tree dying

Asked June 6, 2016, 8:41 AM EDT

We have a 30 plus yr. old maple tree that never fully developed it's leaves this Spring and now some of the leaves are drying up and falling; what could be the problem?? Do you send someone out free of charge to look at it?? Thought we heard that on WCCO radio on Saturday!

Hi, and thanks for contacting AaE.

We receive lots of inquires about maple trees with similar symptoms, There can be many reasons, and sometimes it's hard to make a definite diagnosis.

I'm sending a couple of links for you to read over and see if anything sounds or looks like the problems affecting your tree. I will also send a link that will help you find a certified arborist who can come out and do a good inspection of the tree, and provide some possible treatments. We do not have anyone who can perform this work for free, but if the tree is on public property the city will send out an arborist at their expense. Good luck!
