Rehabbing an old pasture

Asked June 4, 2016, 2:17 PM EDT

We have a15 acre pasture that has not been cared for in more than 8 years. We now have 4 horses on the pasture and are concerned about weed growth and lack of healthy grasses. How do we safely mitigate the weeds and support the growth of healthy plants?

Hello,

Proper management starts with proper plant identification to build a plan of attack.
We have many resources available on our website:
http://www.ext.colostate.edu/sam/pasture.html
and an easy to read noxious weed management pocket guide, specifically for mesa county:

Please have a look at those resources. We are happy to provide an on site evaluation of the property and go over things with you.
