Snake Repellent

Good afternoon, I need your help in repelling snakes in my property at 21144 zip code. I need a snake repellent that works. Your expertise advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks and have s great day

Snakes are an interesting and important part of our Maryland wildlife. They are a part of the ‘balance of nature’ and are very useful in controlling many insect and rodent pests like mice, rats and voles.
Those in your area are not of medical concern, and are very shy, generally avoiding you at all costs.
Controlling them near your home consists mostly of habitat modification, meaning that you can discourage them by keeping grass mowed and woodpiles away from the house. Keep them from coming in by making sure cracks are sealed, especially near basement windows, doors, and where utilities (wires/pipes) come into the house.
As far as repellents go, several types of snake repellents have been used in the past, but none has been consistently effective. The active ingredients in these products are sulfur and naphthalene. They are applied in a band around the area to be protected. Repellents should be applied according to label directions. Cloths soaked with household ammonia may be effective in enclosed spaces.
