Diseases of peony

Asked May 24, 2016, 12:02 PM EDT

Some of my peonies suffer as follows: The bushes stay small (about 8" to 12") in height while others are normal height about 3' high. The leaves on the small ones turn a reddish brown and they do not bloom. Is there a cure for this or should I destroy these plants. Thanks. Richard Watkins dixonfrog@gmail.com

There are few diseases that can impact peonies that can cause spots and stunted growth. Here is an article from Missouri Botanical Garden on Peony Problems and also you can take a sample into your local Extension office to help further diagnose the problem.
