duckweed species

Asked May 21, 2016, 12:40 PM EDT

I own a hydroponic store in Pittsburgh and am looking for different species of duckweed. Was wondering if your agricultural science dept. has access to such species. I have lemna minor now but am looking for other types. If someone can let me know or give any guidance.

I haven't been able to find any wholesale or retail outlet or any university outlet for a variety of species of duckweed. I see species variation described, so they are out there. Perhaps other species are not suitable for reasons of invasiveness or other undesirable traits. For example, Salvinia minima is an invasive plant in our water that is known to out compete aquatic duckweed.- Lemna minor.
