Plant identification question

Asked May 18, 2016, 9:08 AM EDT

I've attached 3 pictures of a single stalk plant that began growing very early among my purple coneflowers and a few black-eyed susans. I suspect it's a plant I don't want, but I'd like to be sure before eliminating it by pulling it. It started early as a mound of green. The photo I took yesterday has the tallest plants at 3' 4". What is it?

I'm not sure what this is, but it's about to bloom and that will make identifying it much easier. I have asked my colleagues to weigh in on your question. I'll get back to you if anyone can identify it. Otherwise, please send a photo of the flower when it blooms and we can be sure.
