Fungus on Tree?

Hi. We planted this maple tree a couple years ago, and it has been doing fine until now. It has suddenly developed hundreds of small "bumps" on the leaves. I'm guessing it's some kind of fungus, but I dont know what, if anything, I should do about it.

The little bumps are Galls. They are not fungus, but are caused by very tiny mites, and are not harmful to either the tree or to you, your pets or other plants:
