mowed buttercups dangerous to horses ?

Asked May 14, 2016, 5:26 PM EDT

I know that horses will not eat buttercups unless desperate. I just mowed my field that is wall to wall buttercups. will the little pieces of mowed stem and flower be dangerous to the horses ?? should I keep them off of the field ? thank you

Hello,

No you should be fine after mowing. In order for buttercups to be toxic they need to consume quite a bit, if there are just little pieces most of the horses will sift around them and even if they eat a little they should be okay.

Good luck with everything,
