Wood from infested ash treeree
I had a large ash tree infested with ash borer. It has been chopped into pieces by LGE tree service. What can be done with the wood --safely without spreading infestation. Thank You
Jefferson County Kentucky
It would be best to use the chipped wood from an infested ash tree on your own property. research done in Michigan a number of years ago indicated that the size of the chips affected the survivability of the emerald ash borer. Here's the link to the factsheet:
The chips can be used as mulch or put into a compost pile. Sharing with you neighboors would not increase risk as you already have the pest in your area.
