Tomato plant or a weed?

Asked May 12, 2016, 7:42 PM EDT

These are popping up like crazy a year after I planted 3 different tomato plants in the same part of my outdoor garden. Is this a tomato plant? Or is it just a weed?

Not a tomato plant, I vote for weed. It is amazing sometimes when new weeds show up in your garden, all of us usually hope it is a "real" plant and not a pesky unwanted interloper.

No doubt. Although the general shape of the plant is similar at that size, you will notice that tomato leaves have deep notches along the leaf edges that your weed doesn't.
