bubbling roots

Asked May 11, 2016, 3:02 PM EDT

My sweet potato has nice roots and the vines are beginning to grow, but now I see bubbling at one of the roots and the water continues to be foggy, even after I change it. Is it rotting? What should I do?

Yes, you should change out the water completely every week or two. As the weather gets warmer changing the water more often becomes more necessary. You should also trim long stems back to about 12 inches long with scissors to encourage your houseplant to produce fuller, bushier growth.
The bubbling is the tuber/water fermenting--not good if growing it for a lovely house plant. The water should always be clear.
